Rackfield House is owned by Solon South West Housing Association, which is a locally based organisation, committed to managing good quality homes for people in greatest housing need. The service is funded by Bath & North East Somerset Council Supporting People. We are committed to continuous improvement working closely with service users, agencies and Supporting People in order to fulfill this aim.

Facilities at Rackfield House
This is a 20 bed shared scheme, for single homeless men and women with low to medium support needs. The accommodation comprises of a terrace of 5 'Grade II' listed cottages. Each cottage has 4 bedspaces with a shared kitchen, lounge, bathroom and separate toilet. There is a communal garden overlooking the river.

The service has a staff team of 3 full time posts; a Manager and 2 Housing Support Workers who are office based at the scheme.

The accommodation is fully furnished and equipped throughout. Accommodation and support is offered for up to 2 years, although ideally we anticipate residents being able to make planned moves before this.

Rackfield House operates a a no smoking policy in all communal areas. No alcohol is allowed on the premises.

What do we offer?
  • Non-therapeutic support
  • Regular resident led support plan meetings and reviews with key worker
  • Money management advice and guidance
  • Benefit and welfare advice and support
Allocation
Criteria for applicants is as follows:
  • Single homeless people aged 18-65 years old
  • No dependents living with him/her
  • Willingness to engage with support services
  • Physically able to manage stairs
  • Ability to live independently in shared accommodation
  • Motivation to secure move-on accommodation
  • Abstinence from substance misuse
We are unable to house people in the following circumstances:
  • Couples
  • Less than 1 month's abstinance from substance misuse
  • Unwillingness to engage with rehabilitation services
  • History of violence
  • Sex offenders
  • Serious and enduring mental health issues
  • High support needs
Referrals
We accept referrals from a number of agencies including Bath & North East Somerset Council's Housing Services, Julian House Nightshelter and the Drugs and Homeless initiative.

Referrals need to complete an application form, providing details of 2 referees. Once we receive your application, you will be invited to an interview where an assessment of your housing and support needs will be made.

Directions
The scheme is situated on the Lower Bristol Road, on the riverside next to the Avalon Garages. The office is the last green door at the end of the terrace next to the river.
